The Super Mario Brothers 2 Transmogrificator is an open-source level editor for the Nintendo Entertainment System game or the same name.

SMB2trans News

27 November 2002: version 0.9.0 of the SMB2 transmogrificator has been released. Also the "cefalu" code base for the release is out. cefalu will serve as the basis for all 0.9.x releases. be on the lookout for v1.0b1 next weekend, any features that havent been added yet will be included in an 0.9 release before the app hits beta. Exciting times for the project! check the roadmap for an updated release schedule. Also just for fun i've included nerdSoft trans2 Internal Build 1 in the cefalu release... it was my first attempt to compile the app. it's basically Acmlm's SMB2 level Discombobulator with new icons and a rearranged main window.

23 November 2002: version 0.8.0 "siracusa" of the SMB2 Transmogrificator has been released. see the release notes for more on the new release. also the accompanying source code has been released. Expect v0.9.0 to be kinda rushed out by thanksgiving so that we can get to beta as fast as is possible... lots of things are waiting on that beta release to get done. the main thing that will be greatly improved by 0.9.0 will be the Super Mario All Stars compatibility... but anyway, go download the new version and continue hacking you favorite NES game and the best mario game of the entire series. you know its true.

22 November 2002: The move to sourceforge from nerdSoft has been made... v0.7.1 has been re-released, as well as the source code. I hope that by v0.8.0 I can have all references to nerdSoft ripped out of the program and source code, but it might take longer than that. ItŐs kind of weird ripping your site out of a program youve worked on for six months... but oh well. the project has officially hit the big time and we hope to make it better and leave nerdSoft behind.

05 November 2002:well 0.7.1 has been uploaded... i've fixed theabout box which wasnt working too well; some of the text was screwed up. i've also added the much-heralded easter egg. enjoy the hunt.

04 November 2002: sorry for the long long dead period but i'm very busy... i decided to do away with some extraneous releases and version numbers by just going on and finishing the rewrite of ALL of the component windows; also Super Mario All Stars compatibility should be working somewhat... also this release marks the placement of two very important easter eggs... one of which is there already and the other is being written in... in short trans2 0.7 "palermo" has been released now. pick it up in the alpha section, and expect some 0.7.x releases as i fix some things broken in this release.

16 October 2002: trans2 0.2 "maggio" is out now... i changed all the tool windows to toolwindows instead of fixed single window so that should simplify the editing process... also i ripped out the Super Mario All Stars compatibility... i'm gonna rewrite it for... probably v0.5. the rewrite of the enemy editing engine is now complete, and ive started rewriting the scenery editing engine to make it faster. the ultimate "faster" release of trans2 will be 0.6, the last release of the mid-alpha phase. 0.7x through v0.9x will be foused on "look and feel" GUI polishing, speed fixes and maybe some new features if i can come up with them, new forcasted release date for 1.0b is 20 Dec 2002. Watch out for that.

12 October 2002: As promised, the alpha phase of trans2 has begun tonight with the release of v0.1 "zeno". more to come so check back tomorrow for a possible v0.15.

11 October 2002: I've uploaded Milestone 4 "luca brasi" to the alphas section..... but i forgot to change the version numbers on the splash screen and main window. let me fix those and post another one. this one will be titled "trans2-milestone-4a.exe" so watch out or that.

10 October 2002: The transition from the old nerdSoft page took a lot longer than I expected... but the SMB2trans site is now officially up and running. the site is mainly a file repository but  it has to have some HTML for 20m to let it stay here... anyway Milestone 3 "corleone" is now in the Alphas seciton, just waiting for you to take it home.
